CHARACTER INFO

NAME: Tyki Mikk
SERIES: D.Gray-Man
CANON POINT: Ch 226, after encountering Nea
AGE: Tyki is approximately 27; the Noah inside of him is ~7,000

CHARACTER SUMMARY: Tyki Mikk is the Third Disciple of the Noah Family, or the Noah of Pleasure, Joyd, who faithfully serves the Earl of Millennium. The objective of all of the Noah is to bring about the end of the world through three days of darkness, thus restoring their supremacy and wiping out Innocence. Tyki is foremost a Noah; he was, however, a normal human being prior to the awakening of the Noah "gene" in his reincarnated form. Thus leads to the duality of Tyki Mikk, struggling between his human side — playful, carefree, friendly, sympathetic — and his Noah side, bent on bloodlust and suffering and twisted pleasure. Early on in the series, Tyki is literally living a dual life between his Noah responsibilities and his human hobbies, spending time with the other Noah family members and his vagabond friends equally. Yet after suffering an attack from Allen Walker's Innocence, the Noah within Tyki is unlocked, causing Joyd to have freer reign over his temperament, or at least causing Tyki to become much more aware of Joyd's presence inside himself.

For the most part, Tyki appears to remain ignorant about much of the history surrounding the Noah as well as the Earl. He is more of a follower to the Earl, a soldier enlisted to destroy Innocence and protect the other Noah. It is clear that the Noah, Tyki included, struggle with their inherited memories. In a sense, he is at war with himself — either he can completely surrender to Joyd, and allow himself to be used as a tool in the holy war against the Innocence, or he can reclaim his dormant humanity. The series is still ongoing, but the sense of his personality is solid: even as a Noah, Tyki is amiable and talkative, chatting with his enemies in the heat of combat, referring to Allen and the other Exorcists by nicknames, and lamenting that they can't play cards given their opposing sides. He is extremely devoted and attached the other members of the Noah family, laughing and joking around with them, driven to grief when one of them is slain. Despite being in the role of the antagonistic, there is a clear depth to his motivations and internal strife.

POWERS: As a Noah, Tyki has access to supernatural abilities, primarily using the Dark Matter inherent to the Akuma created by the Earl. Due to his connection to the Earl, he can control Akuma while remaining unaffected by the corruptive toxin present in their bodies, and he can also destroy Innocence (a tool supposedly created by God). However, a drawback to this is that Innocence is immune to the majority of his own abilities, specifically those using Dark Matter.

The substance of Dark Matter is the opposite of Innocence. It appears as a black, viscous liquid that Tyki uses to manipulate around himself, sometimes as a shield and other times as sharp weapons. He can cover his flesh with Dark Matter to protect it from attacks, hardening his skin while also granting him a boost in speed, strength/power, endurance.
Limitations: Extreme boosts are limited and require additional trade-offs. For example, if Tyki wants extra speed he must sacrifice either strength or endurance. If he wants extra strength, he must sacrifice endurance or speed. Generally I am not interested in combat/fight threads unless there's a CR development goal, and I will always discuss beforehand OOC with parties involved.
JOYD, THE NOAH OF PLEASURE If awakened, Joyd has the ability to take over Tyki's body and "possess" him in combat. Joyd is the Noah within Tyki, a thousands-years old creature that follows the Earl of the Millennium. In this state, Tyki's blood is turned black and tentacles emerge from his body, transforming his appearance into one that almost resembles a knight. His already enhanced abilities — power, speed, endurance, etc — are further magnified in this form, and Dark Matter infuses all of his attacks. He becomes deranged by the bloodlust of the Noah, intent only on inflicting violence.
Limitations: Tyki will not be capable of transforming into Joyd without special circumstances, i.e. for an event. Generally I won't do this without mod approval and OOC approval from parties involved regardless.
ADDITIONAL ENHANCED ABILITIES Tyki also appears to have the ability to survive explosions at point-blank, and react to attacks with superhuman reflexes. As these are more minor and passive abilities, I didn't include them above with the limitations applied but can if deemed necessary.

THE TEASE The "Tease" are man-eating golems that look like butterflies. Tyki has control over these, so he can use them to create shields or direct them to devour his opponents.
Limitations: Summoning currently limited to 1-3 butterflies.
"CHOOSE" One ability that the Noah within Tyki allows him to use is the power of "choose". Tyki can choose whatever he wishes to touch, and this appears to include everything from someone else's body to the air itself, capable of manipulating the environment around him. (It is important to note that none of the below techniques work on Innocence.)

  • Solid phasing means Tyki can physically phase himself through objects and barriers. This is demonstrated when he puts his hand into Allen's chest and punctures his heart. Defensively, this also allows him to avoid damage by phasing through attacks.

  • Fluid Walker is when Tyki is able to walk on surfaces that would normally not hold his weight, such as air or water, by "choosing" to. This converts gas and liquids to solid objects.

  • Refusal is an extreme method of "choose" where Tyki can reject existing physical principles of the world. During the battle against Allen, he creates a vacuum by rejecting the oxygen and air pressure around them. Not only would this suffocate his opponent, but the change in air pressure is enough to crush their body as well.
  • Limitations: Tyki using "choose" requires an amount of stamina that scales with whatever he is trying to do. The more difficult the task, the more stamina needed. I will say that I don't think the "Refusal" level will be used in-game, but if it is (such as for an event) I will again get OOC approval and require that Tyki expend a significant amount of stamina.

    ASPECTS:
The Exalt. This is the Aspect of the Noah, Joyd, that exists within him and carries the memories of the past 7,000 years prior to his current reincarnated state. Tyki is fiercely loyal to his family, the other Noah reincarnations, and the Earl who is almost in a fatherly position to them. He carries a single-minded devotion to the Earl and the war they wage collectively against God, the Innocence, and the Black Order. He enjoys being surrounded by his family, and he will protect them at any cost. He's also defensive of those close to him more generally, including the humans he got attached to while pretending to be an ordinary miner and playing into that "white" side of his personality early in the series. Tyki's devotion could be considered blind, as he is occasionally ignorant to Joyd and the mystery surrounding Mana Walker and Nea, and it's obsessive insomuch as it is what he exists to do.

The Stargazer. This Aspect captures more of his human characteristics outside of his duty to the Noah and in alignment with his pleasure-seeking tendencies. Tyki certainly enjoys living in the moment. He is always curious when he encounters something new or interesting, and he is free-spirited in the sense that he does what he wants, how he wants, as long as it achieves his goal in the end. The former "white" side of his personality seeks new and enjoyable experiences, preferring to drift around with fellow vagabonds and play cards than live the uptight lifestyle some of the other Noah abide by. He dislikes rules and conformity, evidenced by the fact that he didn't go to school because he "didn't like it," and if encountering stagnancy he will immediately seek entertainment.

ANTICIPATED FACTION: Zenith is the most obvious choice for Tyki. He is motivated by his family above all else, and the Noah can exist elsewhere so long as they can be reincarnated. Truthfully, if choosing Zenith means the previous world is destroyed, thus eliminating the Black Order and Innocence, this option is even more ideal for him. He can bring the Noah with him into a new world. I don't see him being persuaded toward Meridian, unless he undergoes development that allows him to bond with the more "human" side of himself eventually. It's certainly possible.

SUITABILITY: Although Tyki is an antagonist from his series, he does express feelings of sympathy and fascination with humans, and he was a human once himself before the Noah in him awakened. I'd love to explore that attachment more as he interacts with others in Kenos, especially through the dynamic of the Aspects, Discord/Harmonization, and the Factions. I don't see him keen on changing factions, as I mentioned above, unless something dramatically shifted in his development. However, I think that he has a lot of potential to behave based on his own self interests more generally, so if he were to form bonds with other characters this could greatly impact his behavior. I'd also like to get him involved in other areas of the game where a morally dubious individual like Tyki might make a strong impact, especially as he is saddled with a millennial-old creature that craves violence.
